Welcome to VCHSG

Founded in 1970, the Ventura County Handweavers & Spinners Guild is an all volunteer non-profit organization dedicated to the education and promotion of fiber arts, with a focus on weaving and spinning. With an active membership of over 70 members, the guild participates in community events and sponsors a variety of educational programs and workshops in a broad range of textile-related crafts.

Guild meetings are usually held the fourth Saturday of each month except November and December. Board meetings begin at 8:30 a.m., coffee & goodies at 9:00 a.m., the general meeting following at 9:30 a.m, and Show & Tell at 10:00 a.m.. A fiber-related program is presented at each meeting, often with a workshop continuing through the afternoon. Visitors and new members are always welcome.

      VCHSG Meeting & Fiber Arts Program

      Welcome to a meeting of a creative community with the specific purpose to advance, foster & promote the art of handweaving, spinning & related crafts through charitable and educational activities

      Program (no charge) visitors welcome “Fleece to Yarn”
      We are hosting a Round Robin event with hands on. No experience necessary, perfect for anyone interested in learning the art of Spinning. Our Experienced guild members will be at each station to introduce you to various fibers used in spinning and the preparation of those fibers for spinning yarn. We will have the traditional drop spindle, the East Indian support spindle for cotton, a small table top wheel for spinning cotton, and of course the Spinning Wheel. Also available will be CD Drop Spindle Kits for a nominal fee. After the Round Robin you are invited go back to any of the stations ask questions get advice and a little more time hands on. There will be a sign up sheet for upcoming in-depth spinning workshops.
